Rosie’s Collection
Down Syndrome, Epilepsy, Autism Awareness
Rosie was diagnosed at birth with Down Syndrome, epilepsy at one year and autism when she was around 4 years old.
Rosie was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth. Her family accepted her with open arms and all the love in the world. Around 9 months old, they began their terrible epilepsy journey. She was diagnosed with infantile spasms at only one year of age. At 3, she started having drop seizures and had brain surgery at Texas Children’s in February of 2022. She has been seizure free since then. She has some spasms but has managed to wean off two medications. Her family noticed with every adjustment to her dosage, she would come alive and show them more and more of who Rosie actually is. Rosie’s personality is a special one. She has a happy demeanor and is a pleasure to be around with a contagious smile. She is a brave little girl who faces day to day challenges with a smile. Her family says that their epilepsy journey has been 100 times tougher than the DS journey. They have gotten through tough times with a wonderful support group, Upside Downs, and the ultimate physician, God. Her mother says that Rosie’s story is about perseverance and accepting God’s will.
Rosie is now 6 years old and recently graduated from Kindergarten after her first year of school in May of 2024. She continues to learn new things every day and her family loves watching her grow. She continues to persevere and works hard in therapy. Her light shines wherever she goes and her family participates in the Down Syndrome Dash annually to raise awareness and tell her story. They say that, “Life is definitely Rosie!“ Rosie’s favorite book is “The Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar” and she is a Barney fan.
